I worked with the UN’s International Labour Organization, UNEP and ICUN to edit and proofread the second biennial, influential report on decent work, just transition and nature-based solutions.
According to the UNEA (2022), nature-based solutions are, “actions to protect, conserve, restore, sustainably use and manage natural or modified terrestrial, freshwater, coastal and marine ecosystems which address social, economic and environmental challenges effectively and adaptively, while simultaneously providing human wellbeing, ecosystem services, resilience and biodiversity benefits.”
This report – the second in a series to 2030 – describes the authors’ view on the role of nature-based solutions in addressing the interconnected challenges of accelerating climate change, biodiversity loss and land degradation, alongside persistent socioeconomic issues such as conflict, poverty, inequality and unemployment
